The fire was in a 6 story brick 125 year old 100x200 commercial building, a former warehouse that is used as artists galleries and stores on the first floor. It is reported that the fire started in the basement and extended up the walls throughout the building. Due to the high ceilings and old floors, the manpower of more than a fifth alarm was needed. Although not much fire was showing from the street, firefighters had their hands full, finding and extinguishing pockets of fire throughout the building. The fire was labeled suspicious by Fire Marshalls.
